Peace & Security Enhancement
Promoting security, fostering cooperation, and building lasting peace for communities and wildlife across our conservancy.
Security for People and Wildlife
Peace and security are fundamental to the success of community-led conservation. In the Laikipia landscape, competition over water, grazing land, and other resources has historically led to conflicts that affect both communities and wildlife.
Naibunga Central actively works to maintain peace by fostering cooperation between communities, establishing peace committees, and utilising dedicated rangers and security teams. By addressing the root causes of conflict through dialogue, resource sharing, and joint management, we create a safer environment for conservation and community development alike.
Our Approach to Peace & Security
Community Peace Committees
Elected peace committees from each community land work together to mediate disputes, promote dialogue, and build trust between neighbouring communities.
Conflict Resolution & Mediation
We facilitate structured conflict resolution processes for grazing disputes, water access issues, and livestock theft — addressing root causes through dialogue rather than confrontation.
Joint Security Patrols
Our community rangers conduct regular security patrols, working alongside national security agencies to maintain safety for both people and wildlife across the conservancy.
Inter-Community Dialogue Forums
Regular dialogue forums bring together leaders from Musul, Kijabe, Nkiloriti, and neighbouring conservancies to discuss shared challenges and coordinate responses.
